Hach Hydromet has partnered with Blue Water Satellite, Inc. (BWSI) to provide the latest innovations in satellite imaging to water quality monitoring programs.
Satellite technology has proven to be a low-cost solution for monitoring entire water bodies. Current imaging technology can measure concentrations of cyanobacteria, phosphorus, Chlorophyll-a, total vegetation, septic leakage, and oil on the parts per billion level.
Combining satellite imaging with detailed water quality information from Hydrolab sondes provides a more comprehensive picture of the health of a water body than either method alone. Satellite imaging guides 'smart sampling,' the deployment of sondes only to the problem areas of a water body where in-depth analysis is necessary. The result is a savings in time and resources with the pre-deployment knowledge of exactly where to focus costly spot sampling efforts.
Features and Benefits - Individual satellite images can capture areas larger than 100 square miles and smaller than 100 square feet, making BWSI ideal for projects of all sizes
- BWSI accesses historical satellite data as far back as 1982, allowing for easy identification of trends and sources of pollutants in water bodies over time
- Multiple measurement size and frequency options are available based on your project's needs
- The service is available worldwide with current projects in North America, South America, Asia, and Australia
